About
The first iteration of Food Design Lab was the FoodInno Institute at UC Berkeley, which focused on innovation in the culinary world under the supervision of Prof. Henry Chesborough, the founding father of Open Innovation. Then, Dr. Soh Kim transitioned into the Executive Director of Food Design Research under Design X, a design-focused research group in Stanford Mechanical Engineering, led by Prof. Larry Leifer.
Dr. Soh Kim, an expert in the field, has delved into the realm of open innovation within the food industry since her doctoral thesis. Over the past few decades, she has accumulated an extensive body of knowledge in food design/innovation, food technology, and the future of food. Leveraging the knowledge, we conduct research, educate various audiences, and host events that can foster more research collaborations. You can learn more about Dr. Soh Kim and her past research endeavors here: https://haaspodcasts.org/blog/soh-kim-food-innovation/
Now Food Design Lab is part of SCIDR, under Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability. Our current research agenda focuses on design, innovation, as well as sustainability.
