The mission of the Stanford Food Design Lab is to capture and cultivate innovation in the food industry through our rigorous design research. Our focus is on real companies leading the charge in innovation, as we seek to uncover the secrets of their success. Additionally, we conduct extensive research into the needs of real users, with a particular emphasis on Generation Z, in order to anticipate how food products should be designed for future consumers.
Our approach includes both qualitative methods, such as user need-finding, as well as quantitative methods, such as Natural Language Processing (NLP), which enable us to extract user needs from larger online datasets.
